Michel Pinel
Biography
Born in 1949 in the Southwest of France, Michel Pinel studied in Cahors before settling in Milan. There he met the director Paul Casalini, who instilled in him a love of images and introduced him to photography.
Thanks to RAI, he began a professional career which quickly became a true passion.
Michel Pinel produces fashion photographs published in ELLE , Marie Claire , and Femmes d'Aujourd'hui , while also undertaking reportage work for numerous newspapers. Committed to demanding and authentic photography, he produces prints of remarkable quality in his studio.
After numerous stays abroad—in the United States, Italy, Spain, and Great Britain—he developed a personal artistic language, exploring photography of nudes, architecture, landscapes, and portraits. His work is published and exhibited internationally.
His works are now part of private collections in Australia, Belgium, Spain, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United States.
The story of a passionate photographer
Michel Pinel is a discreet, demanding photographer who is deeply committed to the authenticity of his work.
Far from fleeting trends and easy effects, he has always championed a sincere, patient and controlled approach to photography.
From the very beginning, Michel Pinel imposed upon himself an absolute rigor: understanding light, waiting for the perfect moment, composing without artifice. Each image is conceived, felt, then captured with almost silent precision. His approach has never been dictated by recognition or visibility, but by a constant search for accuracy and depth.
The choice of requirement
For many years, Michel Pinel made each of his prints himself, in his own darkroom.
This rare and demanding choice allowed him to maintain total control over the final result of his works.
Each print was the subject of meticulous work:
-
balance of contrasts
-
depth of blacks
-
fineness of detail
-
overall harmony of the image
